The Thar Desert

The Thar Desert is also known as the Great Indian Desert. It is situated in the north-western part of the Rajasthan. It is dry sandy stretch which merges with the desert in Pakistan. This region gets very little rainfall as it lies in the rain-shadow area of the Aravali Mountains.
